Yin Yoga is the perfect compliment to Yang (or active) Yoga and works well to balance the hectic and busy nature of life. Yin yoga promotes joint strength and range of motion as opposed to muscle strength and flexibility. It is considered a "cold" practice as the body does not create much heat while practicing.
Some benefits of Yin yoga:

Please bring your own yoga mat. We do have loaner mats but prefer that everyone has their own mat. We do not have mat storage at the studio so plan on bringing your mat to class and then taking it home with you. We do have blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters for community use.
We want everyone to be present for the start of class. For security, we lock the door right at start time and would prefer to avoid having to leave the class to let someone in. The studio is open to students at 20 minutes before class start time, if you arrive 10-15 minutes early it's plenty of time to get you checked in and get settled into your spot before class starts. The opening of a yoga class sets the tone for the session. Give yourself the full session... you deserve it!
Please take off your shoes and store them in a cubby before you walk into our practice room. We get up close and personal with the floor in the practice room and try to keep them as clean as possible. We thank you in advance!
Please store your belongings in a cubby during class. We love a clutter free practice room. We ask that you silence your cell phone and leave it stored in a cubby during class. Cheri, our administrative yogini, is there to make sure everyone's belongings are secure. When she is not there, the front entrance remains locked during class time.
Avoid heavy meals for 3 hours before class and decrease your fluid intake for an hour and a half before class. Practicing yoga with a full stomach or bladder is just plain uncomfortable and not as beneficial to your body. If you need to eat something, to keep your blood sugar stabilized, choose something high in protein but small in size like a protein bar, nuts and/or nut butter.
If possible, please avoid wearing perfume. The breathing techniques used in yoga does increase sensitivity for those that have fragrance allergies. Light application of therapeutic grade essential oil is okay.
When you are registering for class you will be asked to agree to our cancellation policy. Please take a moment to read our policy for cancelling your registration and/or full classes.
If you try and register and a class is full, please check the calendar 1-2 hours before class to see if a spot has opened back up. Thank you for your attention and cooperation! Our goal is to provide you with the best service possible by honoring class sizes and being organized.
